Internet dress-up dolls–are they childish time-wasters or useful practice tools for aspiring stylists? Well, if you’re putting aside your work in order to put makeup on Justin Bieber (yes, that is a game you can find online), then I’d definitely say it’s the former. However, with the far more sophisticated dress-up sites you can currently find online–such as Looklet and Roiworld–you might actually be able to convince yourself that, in some way, you benefited from that hour spent trying to find the perfect virtual heels to complement your model’s virtual miniskirt (but probably not…).

I used to wear wigs all the time in high school, and once again they’re slowly becoming something of an obsession of mine. So far I have two natural-looking human hair wigs but I’m also looking to pick up something more outlandish–especially considering the upcoming comic conventions I plan to attend and hopefully cosplay at. UNIF, I Love You, Get A New Lookbook

 

A brand I’m currently obsessing over is UNIF–trashy, grungy, totally punk rock, but featuring an amazing variety that spans from torn up tees and bondage miniskirts to ethereal LBds and glam velvet robes. But the one gripe I have is that, based on their lookbooks, you can barely decipher what they have to offer.

Shall We Play Catch Up?

I haven’t shown my face on the blog for a while, but I’m anxiously waiting for an opportunity to get back in front of a camera, so I can review all the new cosmetics I’ve received (including Lime Crime’s Carousel lip glosses, wooh!) and show off this glorious item that I just received in the mail:

The reason I’ve been hiding out lately is because my body lashed out at me–leaving me with a wonderfully large and noticeable rash on my face that I’m still waiting to clear up. But as I continue to hide out for another week or so, I figured I’d mention a bit about what I’ve been up to.

Let’s Play Pretend: How I’d Get My Burlesque On

One of my best friends is taking burlesque lessons this week, and this post is inspired by her. I’ve been in love with burlesque for quite some time, especially since seeing the work of the amazing Veronica Varlow, and talking to some local burlesque performers, such as Keycifer Black. I love the performance art itself, but I can’t deny that a large part of my love and fascination comes from the personas they create, and the ornate costumes. Just Another Reason to Love Zac Posen…

Zac Posten  knows a thing or two about vampin it up. His silhouettes are always classy and feminine, with the perfect touch of seduction.

With the Z Spoke by Zac Posen Fall RTW collection, this is one of the few times when I favor clean lines and subtlety over loud, gaudy designs. These figure-hugging pieces enhance and complement, rather than overshadow, and I’m totally in love.
